Bloomberg does not treat sustainability as a side function. It embeds it into data, finance, markets, and decision-making infrastructure. This role sits at the center of that ecosystem, where strategy is not theoretical but operational.
Enterprise Sustainability Strategy
This role owns the translation layer between ambition and execution. You will take high-level sustainability commitments and convert them into structured, business-aligned strategies with clear milestones, KPIs, and accountability mechanisms.
It is strategy with consequences. If the roadmap is flawed, execution across the entire organization weakens.
Decarbonization & ESG Integration
You will lead Bloomberg’s decarbonization strategy while aligning broader ESG priorities across operations. This includes emissions reduction across energy, real estate, procurement, and supply chains.
The challenge here is integration. Sustainability must work within financial, operational, and risk frameworks, not outside them.
Cross-Functional Leadership
This is influence at scale. You will work across engineering, finance, legal, procurement, and technology teams, aligning diverse functions under a unified sustainability agenda.
There is no direct authority over many of these teams. Progress depends on your ability to build consensus and drive alignment across competing priorities.
Governance, Data & Performance
You will design governance structures, reporting frameworks, and performance tracking systems that ensure accountability. This includes integrating sustainability data into executive reporting and ESG disclosures.
In simple terms, you are building the system that proves whether sustainability efforts are real or just narrative.
Risk, Regulation & Strategic Insight
You will assess sustainability risks and opportunities, ensuring alignment with evolving regulations and global ESG frameworks such as TCFD, GRI, SASB, and ISSB.
This is forward-looking work. Anticipating regulatory shifts and market expectations is as important as responding to them.
Stakeholder & Executive Influence
You will engage senior leadership, advising on trade-offs, risks, and strategic decisions. Your work will directly inform how sustainability is prioritized at the highest levels of the organization.
Clarity and credibility are critical. At this level, weak analysis does not survive scrutiny.
Candidate Profile
This role requires depth and range. You need strong technical understanding of ESG and decarbonization, combined with the ability to operate strategically across a complex global organization.
Experience in enterprise sustainability strategy, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional program leadership is essential.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years in sustainability strategy, ESG, or decarbonization
- Education: Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred
- Expertise: ESG frameworks, GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3), sustainability reporting
- Technical Edge: Data analysis tools (Excel, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI)
- Core Strength: Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority
